La Caracciolo Gold Run, come il nome potrebbe suggerire, è una gara cittadina che si corre nel colore oro di Napoli, quello del Sole, nel mese di Giugno, passando per il lungomare, su via Caracciolo. In concomitanza con la 10km, si svolge una corsa non competitiva, la Walk of Life, una camminata per la vita, che ha lo scopo di combattere malattie come il cancro.
Anche quest’anno grande successo di partecipanti, con circa 700 corridori alla partenza. Prima parte della gara adombrata, nel centro cittadino. La seconda parte, dal quarto km in poi, si è svolta però in pieno sole. Tre i ristori con acqua abbondante. Nonostante questo gli ultimi km hanno messo tutti a dura prova.
Due le possibili soluzioni:
1) Partire mezz’ora prima.
2) Invertire il percorso in modo da affrontare la parte assolata per prima.

Caracciolo Gold Run is a 10km race in the heart of Naples, Italy.
About 700 runners take part in the event every year. There is also a non competitive race, the Walk of Life, against Cancer. Only this year (6 June) the race was rather in the Heat of the city.
We started after 9 a.m. and ran through the city centre, which is mostly in the shade. The extreme heat hit us when we reached the water front of via Caracciolo (hence the name of the race) from km 4. But the time we got to km 7 most of of were just running to survive, fighting the urge to stop and look for shelter.

Nothing like slowing down to a crawl will brake a runners heart. We kept going in fear of being overtaken. Nevertheless it was a great event, well organised (except for the late start) with everyone happy in the end.
